The Rwanda Association of Travel Agencies (RATA) is a professional, non-profit association representing travel agencies operating in Rwanda. It was founded in May 2017 by travel agency business owners who saw the need for a collective body to represent the interests of travel agencies, strengthen the industry, and create a stronger voice for businesses operating in the travel agency sector.

RATA was officially approved and gazetted on 4 December 2017. Its establishment created a platform through which travel agencies could work together, share information, build their professional capacity, engage with public and private sector stakeholders, and advocate for issues affecting their businesses and the wider travel industry.

The association has more than 80 travel agency companies as members. Its members provide different travel related services, and the association serves as a platform for connecting these businesses with industry stakeholders and opportunities.

RATA is affiliated with the Rwanda Chamber of Tourism (RCOT), which operates under the Private Sector Federation (PSF). The 2025 Official Gazette statutes confirm RATA’s affiliation with the Rwanda Chamber of Tourism and define it as a non-profit employers’ association whose activities are carried out across Rwanda.
